Whilst both types of whitening achieve really great results, in-surgery whitening is an instantaneous result.
In chair whitening can be done in our treatment rooms with a product called ZOOM. This chairside whitening procedure uses a safe whitening gel and a low intensity light to activate the gel. This combination allows us to provide you with teeth that are 6-10 shades whiter in about an hour! We also provide custom made trays and whitening gel for you to continue to whiten at home. We will provide you with enough gel to top-up your whitening in 6-12 months – just to keep that smile nice and bright!
Unlike other whitening systems which can give varied results, we have found Zoom to be far superior to other products, providing our patients great results time and time again.
Our helpful team at the front desk will book you a 2 hour appointment at a time suits you. We now offer whitening 5 days a week,(it’s that popular!) It is recommended that you have your 6 monthly examination and clean prior to whitening. This ensures that the Zoom whitening process is suitable for you and also, that it works the most effectively (on clean teeth). At the time of your appointment one of our dynamic hygienists or dentists will go through the procedure with you to make sure you are comfortable and happy to proceed.
Zoom whitening is a great procedure to give your teeth a whiten and rejuvenation. Once we have ascertained that you are ready to have whitening done you will be taken you through to the clinical area where we like to make the process as easy and relaxed as we can.
First you will be advised of some of the after-whitening experiences you may occur. These are generally limited to short-lived sensitivity which will cease after a few days. It is important to know that it is not a permanent sensitivity, and we will provide you with special medicaments to make those few days the least sensitive we possibly can.
In our experience, some patients may have a lot of sensitivity and some may experience none at all! It’s hard to tell which category you will fall in, but most people do not feel they have pain that outweighs the benefits of beautiful white teeth.
“At this point in time we like our patients to ask any questions they may have and they will be answered comprehensively. After this discussion time, the fun begins.”
We start by checking the shade of your teeth, taking a photo and recording it (it’s really great to have nice before and after photos so you can see how well the Zoom whitening has worked for you). We then take some impressions of your teeth to make you your custom-made maintenance kit.
The beauty of the custom-made maintenance kit is that in 6-18 months time if you notice the colour of your teeth is not as white as it used to be, you can pop your special trays in your mouth for a short period, whilst watching TV and bring them back up to that white colour.
Once this is done, we starting protecting all the soft tissues in the mouth with gauze and liquid barriers that set hard. We make sure everything is nice and comfortable, apply the special Zoom Whitening material, lay you back so you can watch TV (which is nicely situated above you on the ceiling!)) We do three applications of 15 minutes, between each a new layer of gel is applied. Then after the third, we remove everything, so you can have a little swish out with some water.
We will then check the shade of your newly whitened teeth and take another photograph.
“Then our favourite part… the unveiling! We will give you a mirror so you can have a look at your new white smile”
So as you can see it’s a really easy and comfortable procedure! See our smile gallery for some before and after photos of patients, for whom we have done the Zoom whitening .
We also recommend that that our patients have a look at information provided by the Australian Dental Association www.ada.org.au
Please feel free to contact the clinic at any time and we am happy to answer any questions you may have. You can speak directly with on e of our hygienists. (they will return your call if they are with patients).
